About UDRW Technology

Based on our "Universal Device" concept, UDRW Technology refers to a new USB storage device technology that brings a USB flash drive to an array of fields beyond conventional data storage.

UDRW Technology is the Hagiwara Sys-Com patented USB storage device technology that combines the flexibility of a "Read and Write" area (Removable Disk partition) and the benefits of a "Read-Only" area (CD-ROM partition) into one small compact package.

Since the inception of UDRW Technology, Hagiwara has continued to expand features and the functionality of UDRW, such as new form factors (bNAND One-Chip and bNAND USB DOM), new data protection features (Password Lock, Secure Erase and Write Protection) and the "Hidden Memory Zone".

By doing so, UDRW Technology allows the USB Flash Drive to be combined with previously unrelated applications including software, hardware and services to yield novel and invaluable creations.

Removable Disk

2. Removable Disk + CD-ROM (+ Hidden Memory Zone)

Data stored in the CD-ROM partition is protected from accidental or intentional deletion, while stored content in the Removable Disk partition allows full read/write access.

3. CD-ROM + Removable Disk (+ Hidden Memory Zone)

This configuration allows for the BIOS to recognize the CD-ROM
partition first (LUN 0) and the Removable Disk second (LUN 1).
Allowing for CD-ROM boot.

1. USB-HDD*

OS recognizes the device as a fixed disk drive.
Allowing for USB-HDD OS Boot.

Data Protection Features

1. Write Protection*

By utilizing the GPIO Write Protect Pin, contents the Removable Disk Partition or the Fixed Drive can be protected from accidental or intentional overwrites or deletion.

2. Password Lock

Restrict access to the Removable Disk partition using a Password-based lock.

3. Hidden Memory Zone**

Invisible to the OS, the Hidden Memory Zone can store such data as:
- Passwords
- Credentials
- Serial Numbers

UDRW Development Kits

Two types of development kits are available depending on your application needs, the UDK G3 and STK G3.

UDRW G3 Starter Kit (STK G3)

The STK G3 CD-ROM contains utility software tools that allow developers to modify and/or confirm the settings of the bNAND devices. Optional UDK is required to utilize the advanced features such as read/write access to Hidden Memory Zone, Obtaining Unique ID, etc.

The STK G3 Kit Contains:

- STK G3 Writing/Setup Utility CD
- 3pcs. of hardware

UDRW G3 Development Kit (UDK G3)

The UDK G3 CD-ROM contains a group of function libraries (Dynamic Link Library) that controls the bNAND devices. The library set allows the developers to utilize advanced features of bNAND such as read/write access to Hidden Memory Zone, Obtaining Unique ID, etc.

The UDK G3 Kit Contains:

- UDK G3 Library CD
- STK G3 Writing/Setup Utility CD
- 3pcs. of hardware

UDRW Application Examples

Windows Autorun Function

Firmware level CD-ROM emulation allows you to launch the application automatically when it is connected to a Windows OS computer.

Unlike legacy CD-ROM disks, the UDRW is completely scratch-safe and portable.
